Heavy Judas Priest-flavored guitar riffs?  Check.  Bass lines stolen from Motörhead and KISS?  Check.  Fat, punchy AC/DC drums?  Check.  What more could you ask from a band that will make you put the pedal to the metal and pump your fists in the air?  How about anthem-laden hooks, tasty guitar solos and choruses worthy of an arena?  Check, check and most definitely check.  With the release of its debut EP, Mission To Rock, Cockpit delivers the goods.

Evoking the days of genuine, straight-ahead rock when Harley-Davidsons roared down the Sunset Strip and smoking was permitted both indoors and out, Mission To Rock was launched during a transformative time for the music industry.  Gone were lavish major label budgets and enthusiasm for artist development.  More and more independent artists were emerging, and attracting attention in a saturated marketplace was increasingly difficult.

"Releasing this EP was definitely a challenge.  We grew up listening to bands like Aerosmith and Mötley Crüe, multi-platinum bands that sold out world tours, and as a result we hold ourselves to high standards!" teases drummer Rachael Rine who, along with vocalist/guitarist Linda Lou, lead guitarist Stephanie Pickard and bassist Terrii Kiing, was prepared for the long road ahead.  "We knew that we had something special," adds Linda, "but we also understood that we would have to find original, creative ways to promote ourselves."

"We signed ourselves to our own 360° deal," jokes Terrii.  "We acted as our own management, booking agent, marketing agency, merchandising company, street team, webmaster and bank," she elaborates.

Cockpit's development efforts combined with the band's raucous live sets began to attract loyal fans and industry support.  Soon after the August 2008 release of the self-financed, self-produced EP, "Shot In Hell" was featured on XM's R>A>D>A>R Report (XMU).  "Gun For Hire" was featured in Gibson Guitar's Dark Fire Les Paul viral marketing campaign as well as the Braaap Narly 9 extreme snowmobile video.  Underscoring Cockpit's crossover potential, tracks from Mission To Rock were heard on CMT's The Chopper Challenge series.

The girls successfully landed opening slots for a multitude of national acts and were one of a select few unsigned bands on the 2008 Rocklahoma bill, a five day hard rock event in Pryor, OK drawing dedicated rock fans from around the world.  At the inaugural Rock The Bayou festival in Houston, Cockpit sold more CDs than any other artist including all headliners.  Last summer the band embarked on a month-long jaunt through the Midwest with The Last Vegas, and more recently they headed out to the southwest region with headlining shows leading up to a performance at the Texas Rockfest in Austin.
